Teresa “Kanani” Turco, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I understand that the thought of talking to a therapist can feel like an absolute drag. I've been there. I specialize in mental health, military & veteran services, complex trauma, and addiction. I believe in a strengths-based approach, regardless of which treatment makes the most sense for you right now. What does that mean? I don't believe it helps to kick anyone when they're down. What motivates me is the opportunity to help you see your pain from a different perspective so you can move forward with the life you deserve to be living. My approach I prefer an approach that doesn't feel uptight and clinical. I want my clients to know they can just talk freely and be themselves in our sessions. I'm certainly not trying to impress anyone, so you don't need to worry about doing that with me either. Being honest enough to admit that you need some help is really one of the biggest accomplishments I think anyone can make. It's not easy to ask for help, and I know that. I don't think there's a cookie-cutter approach to treatment, because everyone is different. Your goals, what works for you, and how much time you want to invest are ultimately what will determine the course of treatment and the modalities that will be used. My focus If you struggle with suicidal thoughts or past attempts, as a result of difficulties managing symptoms of mental health, military trauma, posttraumatic stress, complex (childhood) trauma, or addiction, I would be honored to work with you. The many struggles that mental health diagnoses bring: anxiety, panic attacks, depression, suicidal ideation, psychosis, hypervigilance, isolating/withdrawing, avoidance behaviors, insomnia, nightmares, paranoia, delusional thought patterns, dissociation, symptoms of depersonalization/derealization, mania, hypomania, cravings, relapse...these can all be managed. It starts with where you're at right now.
