Getting to know Dr. Terry Gomez

I am committed to helping individuals navigate major life transitions, emotional overwhelm, depression, and anxiety. I also provide specialized support to parents dealing with perinatal and postpartum challenges, maternal mental health concerns, child behavioral issues, trauma, family conflict, domestic violence, and grief and loss. Through my work with children and parents, I have come to deeply understand the importance of supporting the entire family system. I help caregivers build insight into their child’s emotional and behavioral development by providing psychoeducation on brain-body connections and developmental needs. As a parent myself, I value the authenticity of the human-to-human relationship and bring empathy and real-life perspective into the therapeutic space. I believe that meaningful progress in therapy begins with a strong, trusting relationship between client and therapist. My approach to therapy is collaborative and trauma-informed. Together, we will explore how past experiences—including unresolved childhood wounds—may be shaping current patterns and emotional responses. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where healing can occur, insight can grow, and meaningful, lasting change can take root.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As your therapist, I offer a compassionate space where you can feel heard and supported. Together, we’ll explore effective coping strategies and practical tools to address your concerns. My approach is integrative and holistic, rooted in the belief that true healing begins from within and extends outward into all areas of your life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The therapeutic process begins with a brief consultation via telephone to understand your needs and determine whether we’re the right fit. Your first session includes a virtual comprehensive intake assessment to explore your history, strengths, and goals. From there, we develop a personalized treatment plan using an integrative, trauma-informed approach tailored to your unique needs. Sessions focus on building insight, developing effective coping strategies, and fostering emotional and relational well-being. Progress is reviewed regularly to ensure treatment remains effective and aligned with your goals. When appropriate, we support a thoughtful transition out of therapy with a focus on maintaining growth and resilience.
