Tracy Burton, MSW

Psychotherapist
DC
Hi there, I'm Tracy! Hello, my name is Tracy Burton, and I'm a licensed clinical social worker and therapist in DC and MD. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Howard University. With thirty years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of working with children, teens, individuals, and families. My therapeutic approach is simple: I believe in meeting people where they are—no judgment—and moving progressively forward. My approach My therapeutic approach is grounded in being client-centered. This allows clients to be somewhat in charge of their treatment and aims to create a supportive environment. The goal is to help clients feel understood, accepted, and valued, providing space for them to explore their own solutions alongside me. My focus My typical clients range in age, generally teens to adults. This population has been the most receptive to supportive solutions in their problem-solving. However, I’m open to couples as well. So far, I’ve treated people with bipolar disorder, anxiety, grief/loss, and depression. My communication style I strive to create a welcoming, calm, and warm environment so clients feel comfortable expressing themselves. My journey to mental healthcare I have been a clinical social worker for over 30 years. I recently retired and began doing telehealth, which I have found to be AWESOME! The people I’ve had the honor to talk with don’t know how much I’ve learned from them as well. My goals for you When setting goals, I like to prioritize issues and start working from there to resolve problems. My first session with you Clients can expect an accepting, receptive, and cheerful therapist who is genuinely interested in what’s happening in their lives. Sometimes people just want to talk about their day, but no matter the subject or issue, I want to be fully present for my clients at all times.
