Yeshaya Kraus, LCSW

Yeshaya Kraus, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I became a therapist to be someone who helps people through their challenges. I realized from a young age that I'm a natural listener, and people felt better when they would discuss their lives with me. I knew that with the proper education and training, I could make a real difference for people. So here I am. My clients are people who want to create intentional and purposeful lives for themselves, overcome their emotional challenges and feel like they're more in control of their lives and their internal worlds. I have a track record of successfully helping people work through depression, anxiety, and pre-marital and marital counseling. I also do parent consultation work. Therapy can be uncomfortable, and it can bring up a lot for you that you might not be expecting. We'll work through it together, with careful understanding and support. It's an opportunity for the growth you need in order to really shine, and create an intentional life that makes sense for you and works for you. Reach out. The benefit of a life that works for you is huge.

Getting to know Yeshaya Kraus

I became a therapist to be someone who helps people through their challenges. I realized from a young age that I'm a natural listener, and people felt better when they would discuss their lives with me. I knew that with the proper education and training, I could make a real difference for people. So here I am. What should a new client know about working with you?

I'm a big believer in listening first, telling last. I support my clients in arriving at their own conclusions, and owning their own decision making process when it comes to deciding on goals and which tools work for them. I find that this gives my clients a sense of ownership over their process, and helps them feel more comfortable with following through on the work we do. I rely primarily on IFS, CBT, and EFT (the couples one, not the tapping one) as modalities that help me conceptualize and navigate our work together. The foundation of what allows our work to be successful, though, is the safe environment we cultivate together in the therapy room. It's a place of honesty, of positive regard, and compassion, which allows you to safely see your true self from different angles, and develop new ways to live life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our initial session will cover the history and specific details s of the issue you're looking to address, as well as a more general personal history of relevant details and experiences. By the end of the first session, we should have a basic approach for how to work on what's bringing you in. Follow-up sessions are generally conducted weekly. You may have a specific experience from over the last week you'd like to focus on, or we'll pick up where we left off by exploring how you've implemented any insights or tools we previously discussed. We'll explore obstacles to implementing them, and see if there might be different approaches that make more sense based on your experiences.
