Dr. Denny Lau is a board-certified family physician. He practices at Lau Medical and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Northwestern. His clinic is an Education-Centered Medical Home for Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine, where he trains medical students throughout their four years, guiding them as they develop alongside his patient care. Dr. Lau is also a preceptor for Northwestern Physician Assistant program.
As a fourth generation doctor, Dr. Lau came to medicine at an early age working at his grandfather’s clinic. He developed a strong interest in learning about the management of chronic diseases and ways to prevent them. Prior to medical school, he attained a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences and received the Kenneth A. Suarez Research Day award for his research.
Dr Lau grew up in Chicago's Uptown neigborhood. He believes in forming a lifelong relationship with his patients by delivering personalized care with a focus on preventative medicine. He currently lives in Chicago with his wife and three young children. He is an active member of his community and has been serving on the Board of Directors of Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) since 2015.
