Psychotherapist
117 Dobbin St, 305B, Brooklyn, NY
As a licensed psychotherapist specializing in individual and couples psychotherapy, my approach combines classic therapeutic principles with contemporary theories of engagement and intersectionality. I integrate relational, experiential, and interpersonal strategies to create a felt sense of connection and safety where healing and understanding can grow. I hold a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from the City University of New York, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and have completed advanced training in Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis at the William Alanson White Institute. These experiences inform my work as a modern therapist, where I focus on building a genuine and strong therapeutic relationship to explore conflicting or difficult feelings. Together, we collaborate to discover new ways to relate to yourself and others. Our work will identify patterns in your life, understand their origins, and actively shift those patterns to create new experiences both internally and externally. We will spend time developing awareness and increased consciousness around the modern challenges of being alive. I strive to create a sense of safety, comfort, and connectedness to support you in taking steps toward living more fully and enhancing your well-being. I believe deeply in the power of relationships and human connection to change the course of our lives and empower us to take relational risks. We will work with the past, the present, and the therapy room to develop new strategies for engaging with the world and yourself. My style is real, kind, and supportive. Being alive and conscious in this world is hard. I cannot pretend to know you or what you need to hear to reach out, but you can be certain I wish to know—to understand, to be a seed of compassion and change. “I am human and think nothing human is alien to me.” — Terence

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with individuals as well as couples. I have been practicing for over 10 years, providing psychotherapy and clinical supervision. I have been a student of many different theoretical methods and pull from many theories to create an individualized treatment plan for each client/couple. Our goals are collaborative and informed by your expertise on your own life. ++Please be aware when booking, that the first session will be a Free Consultation Only. This first consultation is essential to knowing if working together is a good fit and if it will likely yield the most benefit for you. After your booking, you will get an email directly outlining the free consultation and be sent a virtual link to that meeting. There is no commitment to engage in weekly therapy just by booking an initial consult; we can figure out together what next steps could be. +++ ++I do NOT participate in any insurance panels and fee arrangements can be discussed as part of the free consultation++

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our session time will be spent collaborating and working together to explore the experiences of your world. We will start with a short free 30-minute consultation where we can get a sense of each other to determine goodness of fit. You will receive an email after booking with a zoom link and information on the consultation. Only after consultation, will we jointly determine to move forward to a full session. We will discuss fee and other concerns at the consultation. This time will be just to get a sense of whether we are work well together and if my approach will be beneficial. Should we decide to contine, we will spend our sessions in three areas, the past, the present and the therapuetic relationship to unearth patterns and take active steps to changing those patterns. Our time together will feel warm yet challenging and we will work to decrease the sense of aloneness which often accompanies inner pain, sadness and anxiety. Sessions are 50 minutes, weekly and provided either virtually or in-person.
